My name is Scotch Romahn. Over the past 23 years my family and I have hand crafted our WIND SCULPTURES in our wood shop, (first 10 years as a hobby and the past 13 years as a full-time job). Having been raised at the coast and having worked 15 years in quality control, I am very aware of what the weather will do to wood and metal.

Q. Are your WIND SCULPTURES designed for the outdoors?

Q. What materials do you use?
A. We use three woods to get the different colors (red aromatic cedar, black walnut, and cypress). All are naturally weather resistant. Stainless steel hardware is used throughout our WIND SCULPTURES to prevent rust or corrosion. Each WIND SCULPTURE is soaked in Thompson's Wood Protector, which has a UV inhibitor to help prevent the colors from fading. It also has a mildew and fungus inhibitor to help maintain appearance. The heart of our WIND SCULPTURES is a US made, Sampo stainless steel swivel, the best on the market. It will keep your WIND SCULPTURE turning in the breeze.

A. The instruction sheet that comes with each WIND SCULPTURE is self explanatory. This sheet shows three suggested ways to spin out your WIND SCULPTURE to give different illusions. Remember there is no wrong way to spin it out. Let your imagination guide you.

Q. Can you use the WIND SCULPTURE indoors?
A. Yes, any location indoors that has air circulation will work. We have placed them off to the sides of ceiling fans, by heating and air conditioning vents. We have also put them in corners of rooms with small fans hidden behind plants.
Q. Is there any maintenance to the WIND SCULPTURES?
A. Yes, we HIGHLY recomend one drop of machine oil (3 in 1, WD-40) on the swivel once a month to keep the swivel well lubricated. -Over time direct sunlight will bleach the woods lighter. When you want to refresh the colors just follow the directions on the back of the instruction sheet.

Q:What type of images can you engrave on Wind Sculptures?
A: We can engrave anything in print. Virtually anything can be engraved on the Wind Sculpture. Just remember that the focal point is down the center of the Wind Sculpture, so individual images will show up better than group images.
Q: How can I get you the image to be engraved on the Wind Sculpture?
A: We prefer a hard copy of designs and photos but digital images burnt onto a CD will also work. In order to to laser engrave a clear and crisp image on your Wind Sculpture we ask that the digital image is high resolution and in a jpeg or bitmap format. The CD and or hard copy of the image will be returned with the final product.

Q: What if I am not satisfied with the custom Wind Sculpture.
A: After we receive a hard copy of your design/ photo, we will clean it up and change it to a black and white image. When we get it worked up, we will do a computer simulation of what it will look like on wood and email it to you for your approval. Only after we receive your approval will the image be engraved on the Wind Sculpture.

Q: What color Wind Sculpture works best for laser engraving, what do images look the best on? #000000
A: Laser engraved images show up best on Cypress Wind Sculptures. Cypress wood is a light cream to dark tan color. To add extra color to your Wind Sculpture we can stripe the top and bottom with red aromatic cedar and/or black walnut.
Q: How do the Laser Engraved Wind Sculptures hold up outside?
A: We use the same high quality materials in all of our Wind Sculptures, so they will all hold up to being outdoors. As with all of our Wind Sculptures, direct sunlight, overtime, will begin to fade the colors of your Wind Sculpture. Just follow the directions on the back of the instruction sheet to make your Wind Sculpture look new again. You can also set the Wind Sculpture to your desired shape, tighten it and put 2 to 3 coats of a marine varnish or exterior polyurethane on it. This will seal and glue your Wind Sculpture (you will no longer be able to change the shape) keeping it looking new for years to come. * This information is on the instruction sheet that is included with each Wind Sculpture.
